Our Story

Meet the Founders

The Collins sisters have identified a need in their university and community and have taken initiative to create an organization called Women In Pre-Med to address the lack of resources for healthcare-related majors and support female students interested in pursuing careers in medicine. Women In Pre-Med serves as a valuable platform for female students who are aspiring to enter the medical field. We provide various resources and opportunities for networking, mentorship programs, workshops, and seminars related to different medical specialties. Since Alayah is interested in becoming a surgical oncologist and Alexis aims to be a cardiothoracic surgeon, they wanted to share their own experiences and knowledge, which would inspire and motivate other female students pursuing similar career paths. By creating this organization, they not only empower and support females with their medical ambitions but also contribute to addressing health-related issues in the surrounding community of Tuskegee. This initiative will have a positive impact on the representation of female students in healthcare-related fields and address the lack of resources in the university.

Our History

Where was WIPM founded?

Women In Pre-Med was established on February 1, 2022, at Tuskegee University by our founders Alayah and Alexis Collins in White Hall. The organization chartered its first chapter on November 10, 2022, making history as the first national organization dedicated to supporting women pursuing careers in medicine. With a commitment to empowering future female leaders in healthcare, Women In Pre-Med aims to create a strong community and provide valuable resources for its members. Join us breaking barriers and shaping the future of medicine together!
